Marriage Facts

Clark County is the host to more than 36 million visitors each year. Visitors from all over the world come to enjoy the fun and excitement of the famous Las Vegas Strip and some couples include a side visit to one of the many local wedding chapels. The couples help to promote the image that the community is the "Wedding Capital of the World". In doing so, they contributed to the more than 145,000 marriages recorded by the Recorder's Office during 2005. On average, the Recorder's Office fills 6,000 requests for Marriage Abstracts each month. Roughly 12 percent of the marriages are from outside the United States.*

To get married in Las Vegas, the couple has to have a marriage license from the State of Nevada. No getting around it....and it needs to be gotten before you have the ceremony. Non US citizens fall under the same requirements as US citizens. Non US citizens should always check with their local officials before coming to Las Vegas. 2. Consent is given through a notarized affidavit signed by either parent when not present.  This notarized affidavit must be written in English and must contain the date of birth of the minor and must state the relationship of the individual giving consent. Been Divorced?

To get a marriage license your divorce must be final in the state where it was granted, otherwise your marriage in Las Vegas will not be legal. You must have the final decree and the city and state where it was granted. You are not required to provide a copy of the final decree.

Witnesses

You will need at least one additional person to act as a witness to the wedding. This person cannot be the individual performing the ceremony. Most chapels have a staff member available if you cannot provide your won witness. With advance notice, your coordinator can also be available.

A marriage certificate is filed with the Clark County Recorders Office as proof that a marriage ceremony was performed.
